The diyas are lit. The sweets are out. The school bag is in the corner, ignored. Diwali break is one of the most loved stretches of the year for children across Ratlam — and rightly so. It is a genuine celebration, rooted in family, festivity, and the kind of rest that a school year demands.

October in Ratlam has its own rhythm. Navratri has just ended, Dussehra is days away, the city is still buzzing — and somewhere between the festivities, a folded piece of paper arrives in your child’s bag. The half-yearly result. It happens every single year, almost on schedule. The first week of vacation, you relax the rules a little. By week three, the tablet has basically moved into your child’s room. And now, with the new session already underway, you’re staring at a 9-year-old who can’t sit through a 30-minute homework block without checking if

Every year around February and March, the same question keeps Ratlam parents up at night: “Is my child ready for Class 1, or should I wait one more year?” It’s one of the most common questions we hear at Morning Star School, Ratlam — and honestly, there’s no need to panic. Readiness for Class 1
